Chairman Senate Mian Raza Rabbani has said that Asia centric approach is the solution to economic and social issues and regional countries should look within itself to explore their potential for expeditious development of the region.
He expressed these views during a meeting with a group of China Zhongde International Investment, led by Mr. Zhao Guobing here Parliament House today. Senator Muhammad Talha Mahmood, Chairman Senate Standing Committee on Cabinet Secretariat was also present during the meeting. The group is leading investment companies for different projects of the CPEC.
Mian Raza Rabanni said that CPEC is an economic programme for the mutual benefit of the people of Pakistan and China and we look forward for its development and consolidation. He said that this project is also reflective of deep relations between Pakistan and China. Chairman Senate said that he is happy to learn that the Chinese group of companies is planning to open various orphanages in Pakistan to look after our young generation and expressed the hope that the investment initiatives of the group would be of mutual benefit for both the countries. He said that we are looking forward to further boost of relations between Pakistan and China. He appreciated the President of China for his initiative of Asia Dialogue as it has become imperative for Asian countries to explore their potential for furthering regional development agenda.
The head of visiting delegation apprised the Chairman that his group is attracting the Chinese businessmen to invest in Pakistan and also focusing to initiate different welfare projects to start with the opening of orphan centres in different areas of the country. He invited the Chairman Senate to visit the CPEC Secretariat during his visit to China. He said that many of the council members of CPEC projects related companies would join hands for the welfare initiatives in Pakistan.
The delegation also called on Leader of the House in the Senate Raja Muhammad Zafar ul Haq and exchanged views on boosting economic and trade links. Senator Raja Muhammad Zafar ul Haq, while welcoming the delegation, said that Pakistan places its relationship with China at high esteem and recent CPEC is a testimony to the fact that both the countries aim to further consolidate the bilateral ties in the fields of trade and investment and give further boost to mutual cooperation in different sectors. He said that both the countries have supported each other on international fora and there is need to learn from each other experiences in different sectors.
Leader of the delegation thanked Raja Zafar ul Haq for warm welcome. He informed Leader of the House about the purpose of his visit.
